How to use it

  1. 1Enter the starting URL (e.g. http://example.com or a short link).
  2. 2Press Trace redirects.
  3. 3Follow the chain hop by hop to the final URL.
  4. 4Read the tips for chains, temporary redirects or downgrades.
You give
A public http(s) URL
You get
Ordered redirect chain with status, location, IP and timing per hop
Good to know
Browsers block reading other sites’ responses, so this check runs on our server: it requests only the URL you enter (plus any redirects), reads headers only, never downloads the page body, and doesn’t log the URL. Only public http/https hosts on ports 80/443 are allowed; private, internal and cloud-metadata addresses are refused. Rate-limited to 20 checks per minute. Results reflect what our server sees, which may differ from what a CDN shows you. Up to 10 redirects are followed and each hop is re-validated. JavaScript and meta-refresh redirects aren’t detected.

FAQ

301 or 302: which should I use?

Use 301 (or 308) for permanent moves so search engines transfer ranking signals. Use 302/307 only for genuinely temporary redirects.

Is it safe to check a suspicious short link?

Yes. Our server follows the redirects and only reads headers, so your browser never visits the destination.
