What it does

This skill teaches Claude Code a structured way to test its own work. Before writing code, the agent writes down measurable success criteria (called evals, similar to unit tests for AI tasks), then checks them as it implements and produces a summary report. It also explains how to measure reliability over repeated attempts (pass@k and pass^k) and how to set up regression checks so changes do not break existing behaviour. The guide is written in Spanish, and its examples are shell commands and markdown templates the agent fills in.

Great for

  • Developers who want Claude Code to follow a test-first workflow for features or prompt changes
  • Teams tracking whether an AI coding agent gets more reliable across model versions
  • People setting up regression suites for agent prompts or workflows

Skip it if

  • Users who only want quick one-off code help, since the process adds structure and overhead
  • Security-critical checks that should not be automated: the skill itself says human review is needed for security, and model-based grading can be inconsistent
  • Non-technical users without a project to run tests in, because most examples assume npm, a test runner and a git repository

Try asking

  • “Define pass/fail evals for adding a new user login feature before writing any code”
  • “Create a regression eval baseline for our session management and report which checks still pass”
  • “Compare how reliable our coding agent is across two model versions using pass@3 and pass^3”
  • “Write an eval report for the payment refactor and mark the risky parts for human review”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Skill Eval HarnessInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    eval-harness.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip eval-harness.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip eval-harness.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Write the eval definition before implementation, and keep evals fast so they actually get run
  • Use the code-based graders (grep, tests, build) where possible, and reserve model grading for subjective checks
  • Review the commands in the examples before running them, since they execute shell commands in your project
