What it does

Once installed, the agent drafts longer written content such as blog posts, guides, tutorials, essays, and newsletters with a stricter editorial approach. It leads with concrete examples, proof, or artifacts, avoids common AI-sounding filler phrases, and matches a voice from supplied examples or brand guidance. It also checks its own draft against a short quality list before delivering it.

Great for

  • Founders or operators who want blog posts or launch posts that sound like them
  • Technical writers producing tutorials that need code and concrete output
  • Newsletter writers who want tighter openings and less filler

Skip it if

  • Short copy such as captions or one-paragraph replies, since the skill targets content longer than a paragraph
  • Fact-heavy pieces where you have no source material, because the skill tells the agent not to invent facts but cannot verify claims for you

Try asking

  • “Draft a 1,200-word tutorial on setting up a Postgres backup, using the commands in my notes”
  • “Turn this interview transcript into a newsletter issue in the voice of my earlier posts”
  • “Tighten the structure and pacing of this essay draft without changing my argument”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Article WritingInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 2 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    article-writing.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip article-writing.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip article-writing.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Paste two or three past articles you wrote so the agent can match your voice; otherwise it defaults to a generic operator tone.
  • The skill refers to a separate brand-voice skill for voice analysis; install that too if you want consistent voice matching.
  • Supply your own facts, numbers, and sources, since the skill is designed to avoid inventing them.
