What it does

This skill sets up a background learning system for Claude Code. Hooks record your prompts and tool calls during sessions into a local log file, then a separate observer agent (using the Haiku model) looks for patterns such as your corrections, error fixes and repeated workflows. Each pattern becomes a small 'instinct' file with a confidence score, and over time related instincts can be grouped into reusable skills, commands or agents that Claude can apply in future work.

Great for

  • Developers who use Claude Code daily and want it to adapt to their personal coding style
  • Teams experimenting with shared, exported instinct files between members
  • People comfortable editing JSON settings and running shell hooks

Skip it if

  • Anyone who does not want their prompts and tool activity logged to disk, since observations capture prompts and tool calls (privacy risk if the machine is shared)
  • Users on non-Claude Code agents, because the hook setup and slash commands are specific to Claude Code

Try asking

  • “Show my learned instincts with their confidence scores”
  • “Cluster my related instincts into skills using /evolve”
  • “Export my instincts so a teammate can import them”
  • “Import instincts from a shared file I received”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Continuous Learning v2Install, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 2 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    continuous-learning-v2.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip continuous-learning-v2.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip continuous-learning-v2.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Install as a plugin so hooks load automatically, and remove any duplicate hook entries you copied earlier to avoid double execution
  • Review instinct files and observations.jsonl periodically, and only export instincts rather than raw observations when sharing
  • Correct Claude explicitly when it is wrong so low-confidence instincts decay instead of persisting
