What it does

Once installed, the agent follows a structured three-phase process when building a feature: it first writes a short spec file listing requirements, edge cases and a definition of done, then builds only what the spec says, and finally checks its work requirement by requirement, looping back to fix gaps within a set iteration limit. It also pauses to ask for approval before destructive, production or externally visible actions.

Great for

  • Developers who want an agent to build a self-contained feature with a written spec and a checklist-style verification pass
  • Teams that want a limit on retries and explicit approval points for risky changes

Skip it if

  • Open-ended architectural refactoring, since the skill itself says it suits isolated features with clear boundaries
  • Security-sensitive, production or compliance changes as a substitute for human review, since the review step relies on the agent's own self-assessment

Try asking

  • “Use the ai-loop skill to build a date-parsing utility with a spec and tests for the edge cases”
  • “Run an ai-loop pass to add a CSV export feature to this module, with a 3-iteration budget”
  • “Use ai-loop to write a spec for a new validation helper, then implement and review it”
Step-by-step guide: how to use AI Loop Development WorkflowInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    ai-loop.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip ai-loop.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip ai-loop.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Set the iteration budget and the verification commands (for example, the test command) before starting so the review step has real evidence to check against
  • Answer the agent's clarifying questions about language, edge cases and acceptance criteria during the Spec phase; vague requirements weaken the review
  • Run the tests yourself or in a sandbox rather than relying only on the agent's PASS report
