What it does

Once installed, the agent knows how to use the AgentMail service to give itself a real email address on theagentmail.net, send and read emails, download attachments, and register webhooks that notify it when new mail arrives. The skill includes guidance to require explicit authorization before sending, to treat incoming emails as untrusted data, and to verify webhook signatures. It does not itself run code; the agent makes API calls using the user's own AgentMail API key.

Great for

  • Developers building agents that must complete signup or verification-code flows by email
  • Teams that want an automated inbox for transactional messages with explicit human approval
  • Builders wiring inbound email events into agent workflows through webhooks

Skip it if

  • Anyone who wants the agent to email people unsupervised: sending is account-billed and can reach real recipients, and the skill requires explicit authorization per message
  • Users handling sensitive mail without a security review: inbound content is untrusted and could contain prompt-injection, and webhook replay protection depends on the implementer
  • Users who cannot verify current pricing: the file says billing and limits must be checked on the live docs, and historical cost data is retired

Try asking

  • “Create a new agent inbox at my-agent@theagentmail.net and show me the account details”
  • “Send the approved report to recipient@example.com with the attached PDF”
  • “Check my inbox for the verification code from the signup email and summarize it”
  • “Register a webhook for my agent's inbox pointing at my server and verify incoming signatures”

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    agentmail.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip agentmail.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip agentmail.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Store the API key in an environment variable and never paste it into chat or commit it to a repository
  • Check current pricing at the AgentMail docs before creating accounts or sending, since costs are not refundable on deletion
  • Review every draft email and recipient list before the agent sends, and confirm it is the theagentmail.net service rather than agentmail.to
