What it does

When installed, the agent helps a business compare shortlisted accounting or ERP software in a structured, evidence-based way. It asks for the shortlist and business requirements, records what the vendor documented or demonstrated, and keeps facts separate from evaluator opinions. It can produce a short recommendation, or on request CSV, SQL, JSON Schema or Notion-style outputs built from one field list. It is explicitly designed not to pick a winner or record approvals; the business makes the final decision.

Great for

  • Small and growing businesses (the examples target Nepal trading, manufacturing and services firms) choosing accounting software
  • Finance or operations staff who need a documented, arguable record of a software purchase
  • Teams that already keep an evaluation in a spreadsheet and want it reorganised consistently

Skip it if

  • Day-to-day bookkeeping after a package is live, since the skill is for selection only (it says so itself)
  • Tax filing, Nepal VAT/TDS compliance conclusions or legal advice, which it marks as needing current authority or vendor evidence
  • Making the purchase decision itself, because the skill is designed never to select a vendor

Try asking

  • “Help me compare these three accounting packages for a 20-person trading business and build a scoring sheet”
  • “Turn our vendor demo notes into a CSV scoring table with Must-have and Nice-to-have requirements”
  • “Create a three-year cost comparison for our shortlisted accounting software quotes”
  • “Review our current software evaluation and tell me which requirements are untested”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Accounting Software SelectionInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 5 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    accounting-software-selection.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip accounting-software-selection.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip accounting-software-selection.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Give the shortlist and ranked requirements up front so the agent can skip repeated questions
  • Paste real vendor documentation or demo results; anything unverified will be recorded as Untested rather than guessed
  • Ask for only the output format you need (for example CSV) to keep the response short
