What it does
Once installed, the agent can grab a single picture from a video file, either the first frame, a frame at a timestamp like 00:00:10, or a frame by its index number, and save it as a JPG or PNG. This is handy for previewing what happens at a moment in a clip or making a quick thumbnail. It relies on the free ffmpeg tool to do the actual work, and the included shell script runs ffmpeg with the options the agent chooses.
Great for
- Creators who want a quick thumbnail or preview image from a video
- Designers or developers who need a screenshot of a UI moment captured in a screen recording
- Anyone reviewing video content who wants to inspect a specific moment without opening an editor
Skip it if
- Extracting many frames or full clips in bulk, since the script only saves a single frame per run and the skill describes short clips only in its summary, not in the script (the script does not cut clips)
- Working with videos you do not have the right to process, or sensitive recordings you do not want the agent to read, because the agent is given direct access to local file paths
- Machines where ffmpeg cannot be installed, since the skill will not function without it
Try asking
- “Get the first frame of /Users/me/demo.mp4 and save it as /tmp/first.jpg”
- “Grab the frame at 00:01:30 from this recording and save it as a PNG for the UI mockup”
- “Extract frame number 120 from clip.mov as a thumbnail”
- “Show me what is happening at 10 seconds into this video by saving a frame”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Use --time for a meaningful moment, since the first frame is often a black or title screen.
- Choose .png for sharp interface screenshots and .jpg for smaller files to share.
- Confirm ffmpeg is installed before running, and give full file paths to avoid 'File not found' errors.
