What it does

Once installed, the agent can act inside Slack for a Brigade setup: add emoji reactions to messages, pin or unpin items, list pins and reactions, send, edit, or delete messages, read recent channel messages, look up member info, and list custom emoji. It works through a Slack tool that uses the bot token configured for Brigade, so actions appear as coming from that bot.

Great for

  • Teams running Brigade who want the agent to post status updates or mark tasks done in Slack
  • People who want the agent to pin key decisions or weekly summaries in a channel
  • Developers configuring Brigade's Slack channel integration

Skip it if

  • Anyone without a configured Slack bot token for Brigade, since the skill depends on that setup (it will not work on its own)
  • Workspaces where an agent posting, editing, or deleting messages could confuse or disrupt people; deletions and edits are irreversible from the skill's side and the file gives no confirmation step
  • Use outside Brigade: the file is written for the Brigade slack tool and does not describe other Slack integrations

Try asking

  • “React with a check mark to the message with timestamp 1712023032.1234 in channel C123”
  • “Read the last 20 messages in channel C123 and summarise them”
  • “Pin the weekly status update message in channel C123”
  • “Send 'Hello from Brigade' to channel C123”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    slack.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip slack.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip slack.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Give the agent exact channelId and messageId values, taken from the message context lines, to avoid acting on the wrong message.
  • Keep the bot's Slack permissions narrow, since the skill can send, edit, and delete messages with the configured token.
  • Ask the agent to confirm before editing or deleting messages.
