What it does
This skill teaches the agent the house rules for building its own add-on skills: how to write the metadata that decides when a skill activates, how to keep instructions short, and when to split material into separate scripts, reference files, or templates. Once installed, if you ask the agent to create or tidy up a skill, it follows this guidance instead of improvising. It provides guidance only; the file itself contains no executable code.
Great for
- Developers who are writing their own Picoclaw or SKILL.md-format skills
- Teams turning a repeated workflow into a reusable skill that others can install
- People reviewing an existing SKILL.md for length, clarity, or unnecessary files
Skip it if
- End users who just want to get a task done; this skill does not perform the task itself, it only shapes how new skills are written
- Anyone expecting it to fetch or publish skills automatically; the file describes no network actions and the guidance can be wrong for other agent runtimes without adjustment
Try asking
- “Create a new skill that summarises our weekly sales report from a CSV file”
- “Review my existing SKILL.md and tell me how to make the description trigger more reliably”
- “Turn this repeated code-cleanup workflow into a reusable skill with a scripts folder”
- “Reorganise a long SKILL.md by moving reference tables into a references folder”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Ask for a specific kind of skill (workflow, domain knowledge, or template-based) so the agent applies the right degree of detail.
- Review any scripts or files the agent generates before installing the new skill, since those will be executed or loaded later.
- Keep the description field precise, because the agent only reads it when deciding whether to use a skill.
