What it does
When you switch sessions or the conversation gets compacted, this skill makes the agent rebuild a short timeline of what you were trying to do: the original goal, changes of direction, finished outcomes, abandoned paths, the current step, and decisions waiting on you. It cites a link or quote for each stage and marks guesses as inferred. It can also sync these stages into the session's native task list, or clear those tasks again on request.
Great for
- Developers returning to a long Claude Code session after a break or a context compaction
- People who want a quick status check of what was decided and what still needs their input
Skip it if
- Tasks where you need the agent to plan or execute work; the skill is explicitly advisory and does not replace your task list (it only summarises the conversation)
- Sessions with little history, where the map would be thin or padded; the skill is told to use fewer stages rather than invent work
- Setups without native Task tools, where the map cannot be saved and reset cannot inspect or remove tasks
Try asking
- “/session-flow to show the goal, stages, and open decisions for this session”
- “/session-flow short to get just the goal, current stage, and anything needing my input”
- “/session-flow reset to remove the session-flow tasks it created earlier”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Use the short mode when you only need a quick reorientation, since it is read-only and changes no tasks
- Expect the map to mark pre-compaction reconstruction as inferred; check those lines against your own memory
- Run reset when you want to clear the skill's task records; it only deletes tasks carrying the exact ownership marker
