What it does
This skill teaches an agent how to change the structure (the 'schema pack') of a personal knowledge base called gbrain. It helps the agent check which page types exist, find untyped notes, propose new types such as researcher or paper, and apply them by running gbrain schema commands. Changes are previewed with a dry run before existing pages are updated in bulk.
Great for
- Developers who run a gbrain knowledge base and want to organise notes into typed entities
- Researchers or legal/ops users with many untyped pages who want the agent to propose and apply a structure
- Anyone who wants an audit of how well their schema pack covers their content
Skip it if
- Filing a single new note: the skill says brain-taxonomist handles that, since this skill changes the rules rather than routing content
- Simple lookups of a type's settings or of who knows a topic: running gbrain schema explain or gbrain whoknows directly is the intended route
- Anyone without a gbrain installation: the commands and MCP tools only work against that system
Try asking
- “Add a researcher type to my schema and make it expert-routable”
- “I have 4000 untyped pages under meetings/, propose types from them”
- “Show me the health of my schema pack and any dead prefixes”
- “Backfill page types for existing journal-article notes after I add the type”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Run the dry-run (gbrain schema sync --json) and review the sample slugs before running sync --apply, since it bulk-updates existing pages
- Fork the bundled pack (gbrain schema fork) before changing it, because bundled packs cannot be mutated directly
- Run gbrain schema lint --with-db to catch mis-declared types before syncing
