What it does
When installed, the agent gets guidance for coordinating business processes that span several services, such as an order touching inventory, payment and shipping. Instead of one all-or-nothing transaction, the agent designs an ordered sequence of steps, each with a compensating action that undoes it if a later step fails. It can also produce orchestrator or choreography code, per-step timeout settings, monitoring suggestions, and troubleshooting advice for sagas that get stuck or compensate in the wrong order.
Great for
- Backend engineers building order, booking or approval workflows across microservices
- Teams replacing fragile two-phase commit with asynchronous compensation
- Engineers debugging sagas stuck in a compensating state in production
Skip it if
- Simple applications with a single database, where ordinary local transactions are enough and a saga adds needless complexity
- Non-developers looking for a finished tool; the skill produces design and code guidance that still needs engineering review and testing
Try asking
- “Design a saga for an order workflow that reserves inventory, charges payment and creates a shipment, with compensations for each step”
- “Add per-step timeouts and a dead-letter queue recovery path to our existing booking orchestrator”
- “Help me debug a saga stuck in COMPENSATING state where SagaCompensationCompleted is never published”
- “Review my compensation handlers to make sure they are idempotent and always publish a result event”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Describe your service boundaries, failure modes per step and existing messaging system (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS) so the design fits your infrastructure
- Ask for compensation tests that inject failures at each step index, since the rollback path is the hardest part to get right
- Treat generated code as a starting point and review idempotency, timeouts and reverse-order compensation before production use
