What it does

When you ask for a recap of recent work, the agent looks up your past coding sessions for the current project in an agent memory store and lists them by date, with a short count and highlight notes for each. It is designed to report only what the memory tools return, rather than inventing a summary from memory. It depends on the agentmemory plugin's memory tools being available.

Great for

  • Developers who use agentmemory and want a quick rollup of what was done on a project today or this week
  • People returning to a project after a break who want a dated list of past work
  • Teams checking which sessions and observations exist for a given project

Skip it if

  • Users without the agentmemory memory tools installed, since the skill cannot retrieve sessions without memory_sessions and memory_recall (the skill's troubleshooting file covers this case)
  • Anyone needing a summary of work not recorded in memory, because the skill intentionally reports empty results instead of guessing

Try asking

  • “recap”
  • “what have we been doing this week”
  • “recap last 5”
  • “today”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Session RecapInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 3 original files, the Apache-2.0 licence and an attribution note.

    recap.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip recap.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip recap.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Use arguments like 'last 5', 'today', or 'this week' to control the time window
  • Check that the project identifier or working directory matches the project you are in, since results are filtered by it
  • If the agent reports no sessions, confirm the memory tools are running before assuming no work happened
