What it does

When you ask Claude Code to review a pull request, fix an issue, or start a feature, this skill creates a separate git worktree (a second checkout of the same repository in its own folder) so you can work on that task without disturbing your main branch. It can also start a named tmux terminal session for that work and keep a small registry of active sessions so you can list, attach to, or clean them up later.

Great for

  • Developers who juggle several issues or pull requests in the same repository at once
  • Teams using GitHub, Jira, or other supported trackers who want one isolated folder per task

Skip it if

  • Simple one-off edits where a single checkout is enough, since the extra worktrees and sessions add clutter
  • Users who do not want scripts run on their machine or tools writing to ~/.psm, because the skill executes shell scripts and creates files and clones repositories

Try asking

  • “Review PR 123 from the omc project in its own worktree”
  • “Fix issue omc#42 and set up a tmux session for it”
  • “Start a feature called add-webhooks in the omc project”
  • “List my active PSM sessions and clean up the merged ones”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Project Session ManagerInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 15 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    project-session-manager.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip project-session-manager.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip project-session-manager.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Create ~/.psm/projects.json with your own aliases before first use so paths point to your local clones
  • Review the scripts in lib/ and psm.sh before running, since they execute shell commands and may clone repositories
  • Use the tmux-safe session names (psm_omc_pr-123) when attaching directly with tmux
