What it does

This skill gives an AI agent a checklist to review a PowerPoint (.pptx) file before it is delivered. The agent looks for layout problems such as overlapping objects, text running out of boxes, and content outside the slide edges. It also checks accessibility items like slide titles, image alt text, reading order and table headers, and confirms that the main content is still editable rather than flattened into pictures. When it finds failures, it is told to fix the underlying spec or builder script, rebuild the deck and rerun the checks.

Great for

  • Developers who generate PowerPoint files programmatically and want automated quality review
  • Teams producing decks from templates or source documents who need an audit trail of checks
  • People who need accessible, editable slides and want an agent to verify those properties

Skip it if

  • Simply designing or writing a presentation: the skill validates and repairs decks rather than creating content, and it assumes a generator already exists
  • Environments where the referenced validate_package.py script is missing: the workflow depends on it for production decks, so the agent may stall or improvise
  • Decks where the audit should be trusted without human review: the checks are rule-based and do not judge persuasiveness or brand fit

Try asking

  • “Check this generated PPTX for overlapping shapes, text overflow and off-slide content before I send it to the client”
  • “Audit the slide titles, alt text and reading order in this deck for accessibility”
  • “Validate the package integrity of this presentation and save a JSON report”
  • “Repair the layout failures in my deck builder script and rebuild the file”
Step-by-step guide: how to use PPTX Quality GatesInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 2 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    pptx-quality-gates.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip pptx-quality-gates.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip pptx-quality-gates.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Provide the spec, builder script, PPTX, and source manifest together so the agent can trace each failure back to its cause
  • Expect to supply or install the validate_package.py script separately, since the skill references it but this folder does not contain it
  • Review any documented exceptions yourself, since the skill asks for an owner and review date rather than deciding them
