What it does

This skill gives an AI coding agent a checklist for troubleshooting the oh-my-claudecode plugin for Claude Code. When you ask for a health check, the agent looks for the installed plugin version, compares it with the latest published version on npm, and inspects Claude Code settings files for leftover hook registrations from older releases. It is designed to fix only clearly identified legacy entries and to leave anything ambiguous alone, reporting it for manual cleanup instead.

Great for

  • Developers who installed oh-my-claudecode and see odd behaviour, duplicate hooks, or outdated plugin warnings
  • Maintainers or power users who want an agent to audit their Claude Code settings files for legacy hook entries

Skip it if

  • People who are not comfortable reviewing changes to settings.json or hook files, since the skill edits configuration and removes entries it classifies as legacy
  • Users without oh-my-claudecode installed, since the checks are specific to that plugin

Try asking

  • “Run the OMC doctor and tell me if my oh-my-claudecode plugin is outdated”
  • “Check my Claude settings for legacy oh-my-claudecode hooks that may cause duplicates”
  • “Diagnose why oh-my-claudecode keyword detection is firing twice”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    omc-doctor.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip omc-doctor.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip omc-doctor.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Back up ~/.claude/settings.json and project .claude/settings.local.json before letting the agent make changes
  • Ask the agent to report findings first and confirm before it modifies any hook or settings entry
  • Run it from the project directory you are actually working in, since project-local settings are checked too
