What it does
This skill makes the agent act as a skeptical product advisor. Before a team turns a feature idea into a requirement, the agent walks through six questions covering real customer demand, how people solve the problem today, the most desperate user, the smallest worthwhile version, surprising observations, and long-term value. After each answer it rates the strength of the evidence and pushes for specifics. It ends by saving a validation.md file with a GO, REFINE, or PAUSE verdict and next steps.
Great for
- Product managers deciding whether a feature idea deserves building
- Teams that want evidence-based scoping before writing requirements
- Founders who want a structured, skeptical review of an idea
Skip it if
- Teams with no meeting notes, customer records, or research to draw on, since the skill relies on finding real evidence and will mostly flag gaps (the output will be thin)
- Quick brainstorming or creative ideation, because the skill is deliberately critical and narrowing rather than expansive
Try asking
- “Run office hours on my idea for a bulk CSV import feature for our admin users”
- “Pressure-test whether customers actually want an audit log export before we write requirements”
- “Help me find the most desperate user for a scheduling tweak and assess the narrowest wedge”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Have customer notes, support tickets, or meeting summaries ready so the agent can cite real evidence instead of assumptions.
- Give the pitch in 2-3 plain sentences without implementation details, as the skill asks.
- The skill assumes a feature-folder structure and references other downstream skills (context builder, requirements writer); the validation.md output is most useful inside that workflow.
