What it does
When installed, the agent working inside a clone of the OpenRig repository gets a map of the project's documentation and rules. It helps the agent find which package owns a behaviour, pick the right tests, test a change without restarting the OpenRig daemon that runs its own session, check whether a diff touches a high-risk area, and prepare a pull request. It is meant to be used by contributors changing OpenRig itself, not by people just using it.
Great for
- Contributors making changes to the OpenRig codebase in a local clone
- Maintainers reviewing whether a diff touches sensitive areas such as message delivery or migrations
- Agents preparing pull requests that follow the project's contribution rules
Skip it if
- Operating rigs or designing rig topologies: the description points to a different skill (openrig-skills) for that, and this one will not help with it
- Users who only want to run OpenRig: it is aimed at people editing its source, so most of its content will not apply
Try asking
- “Which package owns message delivery in this checkout, and which tests should I run after changing it?”
- “I'm changing the queue code. Does this diff touch a high-risk area, and what should the PR description say?”
- “Test my change without disturbing the OpenRig daemon my session is running on.”
- “Help me prepare a pull request for this OpenRig fix following CONTRIBUTING.md.”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Point the agent at a clone of the repo first; the skill's guidance assumes it is editing the checkout, not the installed copy.
- Ask the agent to check the docs' last-verified markers against git log before trusting a subsystem document.
- Expect the agent to run repo test scripts; read them before approving the run, since the file itself does not execute code.
