What it does

Once installed, the agent can work inside your Notion workspace: searching for pages, reading their content, adding new pages and rows to databases, updating properties like status or dates, and appending text blocks. It does this by making direct web requests to Notion's official API using a key you provide, and only to pages you have explicitly shared with your integration.

Great for

  • People who keep tasks, notes or project trackers in Notion and want an agent to update them
  • Developers building automations that read or write Notion data
  • Teams who want an agent to summarise or file information into existing Notion databases

Skip it if

  • Anyone uncomfortable giving an AI agent write access to a workspace, since it can create, edit and add content to shared pages
  • Users who do not want to create a Notion integration and manage an API key on their machine
  • Tasks needing offline use or Notion features outside the public API, such as database view filters, which the skill notes can only be set in the UI

Try asking

  • “Search my Notion workspace for the page titled 'Q3 roadmap' and summarise it”
  • “Add a new row to my 'Reading List' database with the title and set status to Todo”
  • “Mark the task 'Send invoice' as Done in my Projects database”
  • “Create a new database under my 'Meeting Notes' page with Name, Status and Date columns”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    notion.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip notion.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip notion.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Only share the specific pages or databases the agent needs with your integration, rather than your whole workspace
  • Ask the agent to show you the request before it writes or changes data, especially for bulk edits
  • Use the data_source_id for queries and database_id when creating pages, as the skill explains for API version 2025-09-03
