What it does

This skill is a guided checklist for finishing an upgrade of the NanoClaw personal AI assistant from version 1 to version 2. A script (migrate-v2.sh) has already copied most data and settings. The agent then checks the migration log, helps the user confirm they are the bot's owner, sets who may message the bot, migrates shared memory, reconciles configuration, and helps port custom code changes. It also tells the user to run the script in their own terminal first if it has not run yet.

Great for

  • Developers who already ran migrate-v2.sh on a NanoClaw v1 install and need to finish the switchover
  • Self-hosting users who run a NanoClaw bot on messaging channels such as Telegram, Discord, WhatsApp or Slack

Skip it if

  • Anyone who has not yet backed up their v1 install: the skill changes routing and access settings in a live database, and the script copies data between versions, so mistakes can affect a running bot.
  • Users who did not use NanoClaw: the skill depends on its specific file layout, database tables and logs.

Try asking

  • “Finish migrating my NanoClaw v1 install to v2 after the migrate-v2.sh script completed”
  • “Check logs/setup-migration/handoff.json and fix any failed migration steps”
  • “Confirm I am the owner of the bot and set who is allowed to message it”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    migrate-from-v1.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip migrate-from-v1.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip migrate-from-v1.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Run bash migrate-v2.sh yourself in a terminal before invoking this skill; the skill will refuse to continue without logs/setup-migration/handoff.json.
  • Back up your v1 install and the v2 database before letting the agent change owner roles or access policy.
  • Send a real test message on each channel after the switch so the agent can confirm v2 is routing messages.
