What it does

Once installed, when you give the agent a statement, phenomenon, or question, it stops surveying the topic broadly and instead keeps asking "why is this so?" layer by layer, moving from surface explanations toward basic principles such as human nature, physical laws, or logic. It then writes the descent as a short, vivid piece with named layers and a final punchy conclusion. The skill also tells the agent to save that write-up as a Markdown file in a local notes folder and report the file path back to you.

Great for

  • People who want to get past surface explanations of an idea and understand its underlying cause
  • Writers or thinkers who want a dramatic, layered essay tracing an idea to its foundation
  • Students exploring why a phenomenon happens from first principles

Skip it if

  • Quick factual lookups or broad overviews, since the skill deliberately avoids breadth and background (it is built for depth only)
  • Decisions that need sourced evidence, because the skill does not instruct the agent to research or cite sources and its output is interpretive rather than verified
  • Users who do not want files created on their computer, because the skill writes a file to ~/Documents/notes without asking

Try asking

  • “想透:为什么大多数人明知拖延有害却还是拖延?”
  • “追本:人们为什么需要被认可?”
  • “Drill down: why do markets overreact to news?”
  • “本质是什么:自由意志和习惯之间有什么关系?”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    ljg-think.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip ljg-think.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip ljg-think.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Give one clear statement or question so the descent has a starting point to dig from.
  • Specify a different output folder or file name if you do not want notes written to ~/Documents/notes.
  • Ask for fewer or more layers in your request if you want a shorter or deeper descent.
