What it does

This skill is a publishing helper for one specific author's skill collection. When you ask the agent to push skills, it finds locally changed ljg-* skill folders, copies them into a local clone of the ljg-skills GitHub repository, and commits and pushes them to the master branch in Org-mode style. It then converts the files to Markdown style, pushes them to an md branch, and switches the local clone back to master. It also checks that the repo README lists every local skill before pushing.

Great for

  • The maintainer of the ljg-skills collection who publishes updated skills to GitHub
  • Someone who wants a worked example of a multi-branch, scripted publishing workflow for agent skills

Skip it if

  • Pushing skills or code that are not ljg-* skills, or arbitrary git repos: the skill is hardcoded to one author's paths and repo, so it would do the wrong thing elsewhere.
  • Use where you have not reviewed the diff first: it commits and pushes to a public GitHub repository, and can overwrite unpushed md-branch commits with reset --hard in some cases, so a mistake becomes public or lost work.

Try asking

  • “/ljg-push”
  • “/ljg-push --dry-run to see which skills would be pushed without pushing”
  • “push skills to GitHub after I updated ljg-is”
  • “sync ljg skills”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Push ljg Skills to GitHubInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 6 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    ljg-push.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip ljg-push.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip ljg-push.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Run with --dry-run first and read the list of skills and conversions before a real push.
  • Do not use --skip-readme-check without first checking the README, since it exists to catch missing entries.
  • Make sure the paths and the GitHub remote are yours or intended before running; the script is hardcoded to the author's repository.
