What it does

When evaluating a US job posting, the agent can check how often an employer has filed H-1B visa sponsorship applications with the US Department of Labor, and attach that factual signal to the evaluation. It reads a local copy of public DOL data by default, so the employer name is not sent over the internet, and it reports filing counts rather than guesses about whether the company will sponsor you.

Great for

  • Job seekers who need visa sponsorship and are evaluating US roles in career-ops
  • People who want a factual, filing-based signal instead of relying on company claims
  • Users of the career-ops oferta workflow who want Block G populated with sponsorship data

Skip it if

  • Non-US roles, where the skill is designed to skip the check; it cannot confirm whether a company will sponsor a specific offer
  • Final immigration decisions, since filing counts are not certifications or guarantees and results can be wrong from name-matching errors
  • Users who want fully automatic lookups in unattended batch runs; the skill requires the user's agreement before installing the index or minting an API token

Try asking

  • “Check whether Acme Corp has a history of H-1B filings before I apply to this US role”
  • “Evaluate this San Francisco job posting and add a sponsorship signal to Block G”
  • “Search DOL filings for Amazon Web Services and tell me which entity matches this JD”
  • “Install the local H-1B index so sponsorship checks work offline”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 12 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    h1b-sponsor.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip h1b-sponsor.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip h1b-sponsor.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Install the local index once with install-h1b-index.mjs after explicit user approval so later checks stay on the machine
  • Verify that displayName matches the company in the job posting; for abbreviations, use --search and re-check with the full legal entity name
  • Treat results as filing history, not a promise of sponsorship, and confirm with the employer's recruiter
