What it does

Once installed, the agent can run the gws command-line tool to pull a short overview of your current week: the meetings on your Google Calendar and a count of unread emails from Gmail. It is described as read-only, so it should not change your calendar or mail. Output can be JSON (default), table, YAML or CSV.

Great for

  • People who want a quick Monday-morning view of their week's meetings and inbox load
  • Users of Google Workspace who already have the gws CLI installed and authenticated
  • Anyone who wants an agent to combine calendar and email status into one summary

Skip it if

  • Users who have not set up the gws CLI and Google authentication, since the skill depends on it working (it cannot run without them)
  • Anyone needing full email content or detailed triage, because the skill only reports meeting listings and an unread count
  • Shared or sensitive workspaces where sending calendar and inbox summaries through an agent is not permitted by policy

Try asking

  • “Give me my weekly digest: this week's meetings and unread email count.”
  • “Show my week's meetings and unread email count as a table.”
  • “Summarise what's on my calendar this week and how many unread emails I have.”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Weekly Google DigestInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the Apache-2.0 licence and an attribution note.

    gws-workflow-weekly-digest.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip gws-workflow-weekly-digest.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip gws-workflow-weekly-digest.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Run gws auth setup first and confirm the gws CLI works from your terminal before asking the agent to use this skill.
  • Use --format table for a readable summary in a terminal, or json if another tool will process the output.
  • Review the gws-shared skill's security rules, since this skill inherits its auth and access settings.
