What it does
This skill teaches an AI agent how to add a new event to a Google Calendar by running the gws command-line tool. Once installed, when you ask the agent to schedule something, it can fill in the title, start and end times, location, description, attendee emails, and an optional Google Meet video link. The skill tells the agent to confirm with you before creating the event, since this changes your real calendar.
Great for
- People who want an AI assistant to schedule meetings on their Google Calendar
- Developers already using the gws CLI who want agents to manage calendar events
- Teams automating recurring standups or review meetings
Skip it if
- Reading, editing, or deleting existing events, which this skill does not cover (it is limited to creating events) - use the broader gws-calendar skill instead
- Users without a configured gws installation and Google account authentication, since the skill cannot work without them
- Sensitive scheduling where an agent should not invite external attendees without review, since emails are sent to attendees once the event is created
Try asking
- “Schedule a 30-minute standup tomorrow at 9am Pacific called Standup”
- “Create a review meeting on Friday at 2pm and invite alice@example.com”
- “Add a 1-hour planning session next Monday with a Google Meet link”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Give start and end times with a timezone offset (for example 2026-06-17T09:00:00-07:00) so the event lands at the correct time
- Review the title, time, and attendee list the agent proposes before approving, because the command writes to your live calendar
- Run gws calendar +insert --help to check flags supported by your installed version
