What it does
This skill teaches an AI agent how to add plain text to the end of an existing Google Doc by running the gws command-line tool with a document ID and the text to add. Once installed, when asked to add a line or paragraph to a Google Doc, the agent knows the exact command and flags to use, and is told to confirm with the user before making the change. It does not format text or create new documents; the skill notes that rich formatting requires the raw batchUpdate API instead.
Great for
- People who keep running logs, meeting notes or checklists in a shared Google Doc and want an agent to append entries
- Developers automating simple Google Docs updates from scripts or agent workflows that already use the gws CLI
Skip it if
- Rich formatting, headings, tables or styled text, because the skill only handles plain text and points to the raw API for anything more
- Editing or deleting existing content, since the skill only describes appending to the end of the document body
- Use without authentication setup, since the skill depends on a shared gws auth configuration it does not itself provide
Try asking
- “Add 'Action items from today's standup: ...' to the end of my team's meeting notes doc with ID 1abc...”
- “Append a new dated entry to my project journal Google Doc”
- “Write the summary paragraph at the bottom of the report document”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Give the agent the exact document ID, and check it is the right document before confirming the write
- Keep text to plain text; ask for a separate formatting step via the raw batchUpdate API if you need styling
- If the skill's shared prerequisite file is missing, run gws generate-skills first
