What it does
This skill teaches an AI agent how to use the gws command-line tool to query Google Workspace admin reporting data. Once installed, the agent can look up audit logs of account activity (such as Admin console and Google Drive events), usage reports for the whole customer account, per-entity usage, and per-user usage, and can set up push notifications for new activity. It also tells the agent to check the gws help and schema output before running a command so the right parameters are used.
Great for
- Google Workspace administrators who want an assistant to summarise audit or usage data
- IT or data staff building reports on account activity and tool adoption
- Developers automating Workspace admin reporting through the gws CLI
Skip it if
- Users without Google Workspace admin rights, since the reports require administrator access and the skill cannot grant it
- Anyone expecting it to change settings or act on findings; the file only covers reading reports and managing notification channels, and running it against live tenant data may expose sensitive user activity to the agent's session
Try asking
- “Show me all Google Drive activity reports for the last 7 days for our domain”
- “Get the customer usage report for last month and summarise storage and user counts”
- “Which users used the most Drive storage this week?”
- “Set up a push notification for Admin console activity and later stop that channel”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Run 'gws admin-reports --help' and 'gws schema admin-reports.<resource>.<method>' first so the agent uses correct flags.
- Limit date ranges and filters when querying audit logs to keep results manageable and avoid pulling unnecessary personal data.
- Install and review the gws-shared skill and its auth setup before use, since this skill depends on it.
