What it does
This skill teaches an AI agent how to add one or more new rows to the end of a Google Sheets spreadsheet by running the gws command-line tool. Once installed, when you ask the agent to log or add data to a spreadsheet, it knows the correct command, flags, and options, such as targeting a specific tab. The skill itself is only instructions; the actual writing is done by the gws tool, which must already be installed and authenticated with your Google account.
Great for
- People who regularly log entries (expenses, leads, survey responses) into a Google Sheet and want the agent to do it
- Data users who need to bulk-append multiple rows from JSON data
- Developers already using the gws CLI who want their agent to use it correctly
Skip it if
- Reading, editing or deleting spreadsheet data, since this skill only covers appending rows; a broader gws-sheets skill is referenced for other operations
- Users who do not have the gws tool installed and authenticated, since the skill will not work without it
- Situations where unreviewed writes are risky, because the skill writes to a live shared spreadsheet and the agent should confirm each write first
Try asking
- “Add a row to my expenses spreadsheet with the date, Alice, and 100”
- “Append these five rows of JSON data to the leads sheet”
- “Add a new entry to the 'March' tab of my budget spreadsheet”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Confirm the spreadsheet ID and target tab (--range such as Sheet2!A1) before the agent writes, since appends cannot be undone from this skill.
- Use --json-values for multiple rows and --values for a single simple row.
- Run gws generate-skills if the referenced gws-shared skill file is missing.
