What it does

Once installed, the agent acts as an orchestrator: it pulls open issues from a GitHub repository through the GitHub REST API, lets you choose which ones to work on, spawns sub-agents to write fixes on branches, and opens pull requests. It can also watch for new issues or review comments on its PRs and respond to them, optionally sending a final summary to a Telegram channel.

Great for

  • Maintainers with a backlog of simple, well-described bugs or small enhancements
  • Developers who want to trial parallel automated fixes on a fork before reviewing them
  • Teams running scheduled issue triage through cron jobs

Skip it if

  • Repositories where you cannot review AI-written pull requests before merging, because generated code may be wrong or insecure
  • Complex or ambiguous issues that need human design decisions; the sub-agents act on issue text alone
  • Use with a token that has broad write access to important repositories, since a mistake could push branches or open PRs in the wrong place

Try asking

  • “Fix the open bug-labelled issues in owner/repo and open PRs, asking me to confirm first”
  • “Dry run: list open issues assigned to me in owner/repo with the milestone v1.0”
  • “Watch owner/repo for new issues every 10 minutes and push fixes to my fork user/repo”
  • “Check my open PRs in owner/repo for review comments and address them”
Step-by-step guide: how to use GitHub Issue Auto-FixerInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    gh-issues.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip gh-issues.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip gh-issues.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Start with --dry-run or the default confirmation step so you can see the issue list before any sub-agent runs
  • Use --fork with a fork you control so branches are pushed away from the source repository
  • Use a fine-grained token scoped to only the repositories you intend to modify
