What it does

When you ask a question about a technology or topic, this skill tells the agent to split the question into 2 to 5 separate search angles and hand each one to a helper agent that searches the web and reads documentation at the same time. The agent then combines the results into one summary with a list of key findings and links to the sources it used. It is useful when an answer depends on current or official documentation rather than the model's memory.

Great for

  • Developers checking current library or framework best practices
  • Students or analysts who want a quick, source-linked overview of a topic
  • Anyone comparing tools (for example two ORMs) and wanting cited sources

Skip it if

  • Tasks needing private or confidential data, since queries and fetched pages go to external web services
  • Questions where the sources must be fully verified; the skill relies on whatever pages the helper agents find and can still misread or miss sources, so citations should be checked before acting on them

Try asking

  • “/oh-my-claudecode:external-context What are the best practices for JWT token rotation in Node.js?”
  • “/oh-my-claudecode:external-context Compare Prisma vs Drizzle ORM for PostgreSQL”
  • “/oh-my-claudecode:external-context Latest React Server Components patterns and conventions”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    external-context.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip external-context.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip external-context.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Phrase the query as a specific question with a technology name and version so the facets are focused.
  • Ask for a comparison explicitly if you want side-by-side facets, such as 'Compare X vs Y for Z'.
  • Check the cited URLs before relying on the findings for production decisions.
