What it does
Once installed, the agent can run the eightctl command-line tool to check the status of an Eight Sleep smart bed pod, turn it on or off, set the temperature, and manage alarms, schedules, audio and base (bed angle) settings. The skill tells the agent which commands exist and to confirm before changing temperature or alarms. It needs your Eight Sleep account login to work.
Great for
- Eight Sleep pod owners who want to control their bed from an AI assistant
- People who already use or are comfortable installing command-line tools
- Anyone wanting quick voice or chat commands for bedtime routines
Skip it if
- Users without an Eight Sleep pod, since the commands have nothing to control. Reason: it only talks to Eight Sleep devices.
- Anyone unwilling to store an account email and password in a config file or environment variables. Reason: the skill requires these credentials.
- Situations needing a reliable, supported integration. Reason: the SKILL.md states the API is unofficial and rate-limited, so it may break or get the account throttled.
Try asking
- “What's the status of my Eight Sleep pod right now?”
- “Set my pod temperature to 20 degrees.”
- “List my alarms and dismiss the one for tomorrow morning.”
- “Create a schedule that turns the pod on at 10pm on weeknights.”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Ask the agent to show the planned change before it runs, since the skill says to confirm temperature and alarm changes.
- Avoid asking for many repeated logins in a short period, because the API is rate-limited.
- Store credentials in the config file rather than pasting them into chat.
