What it does

This skill gives the AI agent a reference guide on CQRS (Command Query Responsibility Segregation), an architecture pattern where the part of a software system that changes data is kept separate from the part that reads data. Once installed, the agent can explain the pattern, lay out commands, queries, events and projectors, and help plan or write code for systems that need independent read and write models, such as event-sourced systems or heavy reporting. It also reminds the agent of common do's and don'ts, such as accepting eventual consistency and versioning events.

Great for

  • Backend engineers evaluating whether CQRS suits a service with heavy read or reporting load
  • Teams designing event-sourced systems who want a consistent starting checklist
  • Developers who want an agent to scaffold command handlers, query handlers and projections

Skip it if

  • Simple CRUD applications, where CQRS adds complexity without a clear performance or scaling benefit
  • Projects that need strong read-after-write consistency everywhere, since CQRS typically relies on eventual consistency
  • Anyone expecting a ready-made library: the skill is guidance and templates, not an installable framework

Try asking

  • “Explain how CQRS would split the write model and read model for my orders service”
  • “Design the commands, events and projector for a product catalogue with heavy search queries”
  • “Review my event-sourced inventory code against CQRS best practices”
  • “Show me a template for a command handler that validates before changing state”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 2 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    cqrs-implementation.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip cqrs-implementation.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip cqrs-implementation.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Describe your actual scaling or query problem so the agent can judge whether CQRS is justified before writing code.
  • Ask the agent to name the specific language and framework you use, since the skill's templates are generic and may need adapting.
  • Check the referenced templates in references/details.md against your stack and review generated code before production use.
