What it does
Once installed, the agent can take your exported AI chat history (from ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity) or local agent session logs and turn each conversation into a dated page in your personal knowledge store called a brain. It checks that pages parse correctly, pulls out facts, and looks for gaps so nothing is missed. Afterwards you can ask questions like when you first discussed a topic or how an idea changed across old chats, and the agent searches that archive before answering.
Great for
- People with years of ChatGPT or Claude history who want it searchable
- Developers who run GBrain and want coding-agent session logs archived
- Researchers tracing how their thinking on a topic evolved
Skip it if
- Users who want to share or publish chats: the imported pages contain full conversation text, and broad personal-information detection (names, phone numbers, addresses) is left to the user's own review, so sensitive chats need manual scrubbing first
- Anyone without the GBrain tool installed: the skill depends on its commands and conventions and will not work on its own
Try asking
- “Import my ChatGPT export from ~/Downloads/conversations.json into the brain”
- “When did I first discuss vector databases across my past conversations?”
- “Backfill any missing Claude conversations and tell me what gaps you found”
- “Trace how my view on remote work changed across my archived chats”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Run gbrain transcripts ingest with --dry-run on a small sample first, and test 3-5 conversations before bulk importing everything
- Manually review imported pages for personal information such as names, phone numbers and addresses, since automatic redaction covers only secret keys and tokens
- If a secret reaches a page, rotate it first, then delete the page with gbrain delete <slug> --purge and check git history, which may still contain it
