What it does
This skill teaches an AI agent to save anything you give it (a thought, a snippet, a transcript fragment) into your gbrain personal knowledge base using the single command gbrain capture. The page is stored in the brain's database and also written as a markdown file on disk under a predictable inbox folder, with a receipt printed back so you can see where it went. Once saved, the note can be searched or queried by the agent later.
Great for
- Developers or researchers who already run a gbrain knowledge base and want the agent to file quick notes into it
- People who want a single reliable way to save thoughts without choosing between several lower-level gbrain commands
Skip it if
- Bulk importing many files: the skill itself says to use gbrain sync or import instead, because looping capture over dozens of files is the wrong tool
- Users without gbrain installed and configured: the skill only works as a front end to an existing gbrain setup, and it is not a standalone note app
- Sensitive credentials or secrets: captured content is written to disk and the DB, and inline text can end up in shell history, so passwords or keys should not be captured
Try asking
- “Capture this thought: the new pricing idea is to bundle support with the annual plan”
- “Save this to brain: notes from the call with Priya about the migration timeline”
- “Remember this: the Postgres index fix that cut query time by 40 percent”
- “Ingest this into my brain from ./notes/today.md”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Use --file or --stdin for longer or sensitive content rather than passing it inline, since inline arguments are saved in shell history
- Use --quiet in scripts to get just the slug, or --json when another tool needs structured output
- If a capture is refused by the secret scanner, the agent should report that rather than editing the text to get past it
