What it does
Once installed, the agent helps a product manager quickly write down product ideas, feature requests, and insights from meetings, customer conversations, or competitor research. It turns rough text into a standard one-line backlog entry with a short name, description, product area, and dependencies, checks the existing backlog for duplicates and adds new evidence to them instead, and appends the result to the backlog file under an 'Ideas Not Yet in Jira' section. It also converts relative dates like 'next Thursday' into absolute dates.
Great for
- Product managers who capture ideas during or after meetings and want them recorded fast
- Product teams that keep a running backlog file and want consistent entry formatting
- Anyone who needs to log customer requests with their source and date
Skip it if
- Teams that need validation or prioritization of ideas, since the skill explicitly defers that to another step (/office-hours) and only captures
- Setups where the backlog lives in a system other than a local file the agent can read and edit, because the skill assumes an existing backlog file and the rest of the workflow depends on it
Try asking
- “Capture this from today's call: customers want CSV export of dashboards, mentioned by Acme Corp's ops lead.”
- “Add an entry for the competitor gap we saw in their new pricing page today.”
- “Check whether we already have a backlog item for bulk user import before adding this one from the sales rep.”
- “Log these five ideas from the planning meeting as separate backlog entries.”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Paste rough notes with the source named (customer, meeting, date) so the skill can record origin accurately.
- Review the appended entries after each batch, since duplicate matching and dates are inferred from text and may need correction.
- Save prioritization and validation for a separate step rather than expecting this skill to judge ideas.
