What it does

Once installed, the agent checks its copy-writing against a set of rules about what makes text sound machine-made, such as buzzwords like 'unlock' or 'elevate', unsupported claims like 'trusted by thousands', fake-candid openers and chatbot sign-offs. For each pattern it shows a bad example and a plainer rewrite, and it is told not to invent facts, names or numbers when rewriting. It is meant to be used alongside a core rules file called antislop.md, which this skill references but which is not included in the files reviewed.

Great for

  • Marketers writing landing pages, headlines and calls to action who want less generic wording
  • Developers or founders drafting product copy without chatbot filler pasted into it
  • Editors reviewing AI-drafted text for telltale phrasing

Skip it if

  • Factual or research writing where the agent must verify claims, since the skill only removes style patterns and adds no sourcing; it can still leave unverified statements in place
  • Users who want the agent to invent persuasive statistics or testimonials, which the skill explicitly forbids
  • Projects that depend on the core antislop.md file, which is not among the reviewed files, so the rule numbers it cites (such as R-17 or C-5) cannot be checked here

Try asking

  • “Rewrite this landing page hero section so it doesn't sound like AI wrote it, without adding any new claims.”
  • “Edit my product description and remove buzzwords like seamless and cutting-edge.”
  • “Review this email campaign draft and flag chatbot closers or signposting phrases.”
  • “Suggest a plainer headline for our pricing page using only the facts I provide.”

Get better results

  • Load the core antislop.md file together with this skill so the referenced rule numbers resolve.
  • Supply real customer names, figures and voice samples, because the skill asks the agent to leave gaps or cut claims rather than invent them.
  • Treat the output as a style edit and check every factual statement yourself before publishing.
