What it does

This skill sets up Slack as a messaging channel for the NanoClaw agent system. It copies Slack integration code from a separate branch into the project, installs a pinned Slack adapter package, runs build and test checks, and then walks the user through creating a Slack app and pasting its tokens into a .env file. Once installed, the agent can receive and reply to direct messages and channel messages in one Slack workspace through a bot.

Great for

  • Developers running a NanoClaw install who want their agent reachable from Slack
  • Teams testing a single Slack bot for direct messages and channel chat
  • Users behind a NAT or without a public URL who want Socket Mode delivery

Skip it if

  • Users who want the multi-bot Slack agents feature, which this skill explicitly does not include and ships separately (/slack-agent-flow, /slack-a2a-rooms)
  • People uncomfortable pasting Slack bot and app tokens into a local .env file, since those tokens grant access to their workspace
  • Non-developers without a working NanoClaw checkout, since the steps assume a pnpm build and test environment

Try asking

  • “Add Slack channel integration to my NanoClaw install”
  • “Set up Slack in Socket Mode so I don't need a public URL”
  • “Connect my agent to Slack with a bot token and app-level token”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 3 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    add-slack.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip add-slack.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip add-slack.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Choose Socket Mode unless you already have a public HTTPS endpoint; it avoids exposing a webhook URL.
  • Review the Bot Token Scopes listed in the instructions and keep the app limited to the workspace you intend to use.
  • If you later want the Slack agents experience, run /migrate-slack-agents or apply /slack-agent-flow rather than re-running this skill.
