About

Convert videos to WebM or MP4 in your browser, with resolution, frame rate and quality options. Shows which formats your browser can create.

How to use it

  1. 1Choose a video your browser can play.
  2. 2Pick WebM or MP4 (only supported formats are enabled).
  3. 3Choose resolution, frame rate and quality.
  4. 4Click Convert — it runs in real time — then download.
You give
Videos your browser can play (MP4/H.264, WebM, many MOVs)
You get
WebM (VP8/VP9 + Opus) or MP4 (H.264 + AAC) depending on MediaRecorder support
Good to know
Re-encodes in real time using MediaRecorder, so conversion takes as long as the video and the tab must stay visible. MP4 output needs Safari or a recent Chrome/Edge. Files the browser can't play (HEVC in some browsers, ProRes, AVI, WMV) can't be converted. Variable quality across browsers; for long or 4K videos a desktop app is faster.

FAQ

Why is conversion so slow?

The browser plays the video and records it at the same time. This avoids uploading and avoids a 30 MB download of ffmpeg, but it runs at 1× speed.

Can I convert MOV from my iPhone?

If your browser can play it, yes. iPhone MOVs in HEVC play in Safari and on most recent Windows/macOS Chrome builds; otherwise use “Most Compatible” capture mode.

Can I shrink a 4K video to 1080p?

Yes, choose 1080p under Resolution. Lower resolutions and quality give much smaller files.
