What it does

Once installed, the agent can write or revise text so it matches a voice model built from your own past writing, and it can audit drafts for common AI-writing patterns. It routes each request to a specific intent (rewrite, detect, score, write as you, assemble rough notes, preview) and checks results with measurement scripts that compare drafts against your corpus. It can also optionally send text to the Pangram AI-detection service for a score.

Great for

  • Writers who want drafts that sound like their own past work
  • People with dictated notes or transcripts who need them organized into prose
  • Anyone editing AI-generated drafts to remove telltale phrasing

Skip it if

  • Standalone AI-detection only, since the skill points that to a separate DetectAI skill
  • Fiction, since the skill routes fiction to a separate WriteStory skill
  • Anyone without a configured voice corpus, because the scripts stop with exit code 2 and the voice checks cannot run

Try asking

  • “deai this draft”
  • “write the intro to this post as me”
  • “assemble this transcript into prose”
  • “show me the draft”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Writing in Your VoiceInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 15 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    Writing.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip Writing.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip Writing.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Run Setup.md first and build the voice profile from your own corpus before expecting voice checks to mean anything.
  • Ask for a minimal-diff rewrite so you can see every change traced to a source span.
  • Treat Pangram scores as signals with caveats, not as a pass or fail verdict.
