What it does

When you ask for something like "surprise me" or say you're bored, the agent looks at the other skills it has installed and picks one to three of them to mash together into a single creative piece, such as a styled presentation, an illustrated report, or an interactive web page. If no other skills are installed, it falls back to finding a news story and turning it into a striking web page, building a small interactive experience, or making something personal from what it knows about you. It then presents the result with a short teaser rather than explaining the process.

Great for

  • People who want a fun, unexpected creative surprise or a bit of inspiration
  • Users who already have several document, design, or creative skills installed and want them combined
  • Creators looking for playful prototypes or mini interactive pages

Skip it if

  • Tasks needing precise, factual or verified output, since the skill prioritises visual delight over information density
  • Users who want to see exactly how a deliverable was made, because the reveal deliberately hides the process
  • Users who dislike the agent searching news or using personal context unexpectedly, since the fallback fetches current news and may use remembered details about them

Try asking

  • “Surprise me with something creative today”
  • “I'm bored, show me something interesting”
  • “Make me an unexpected showcase that combines what you can do”
  • “Give me some inspiration in a fun interactive page”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Surprise MeInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    surprise-me.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip surprise-me.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip surprise-me.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Install the document and design skills you want to see mashed together, since the surprise draws only from enabled skills.
  • Let the agent know your interests in conversation so the personalised option has useful context.
  • Expect the reveal to be short; ask for an explanation afterwards if you want to know how it was built.
