What it does
This is a meta-skill: instructions that teach the AI agent how to build other skills for the DeepTutor app. When someone asks to create a new skill, improve one, or understand how skills work, the agent follows a set of authoring rules: write a clear trigger description, keep instructions concise, move long details into reference files, and iterate based on real use. It does not add a new capability to answer questions for end users directly; it changes how the agent writes skills.
Great for
- Developers extending DeepTutor with their own skills
- Teams standardising how internal agent playbooks are written
- Anyone new to agent skills who wants the agent to explain the format
Skip it if
- Ordinary tutoring or study help, since it only matters when authoring skills (no benefit for regular users)
- People expecting a skill that runs code or reaches the internet; it only supplies writing guidance
Try asking
- “Create a new DeepTutor skill that helps with citation formatting”
- “Improve my existing skill's description so it triggers more reliably”
- “How do skills work in DeepTutor and what goes in the frontmatter?”
- “Help me split a long SKILL.md into reference files”

Add it to your agent
Claude Code (all projects)
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip skill-creator.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)
mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip skill-creator.zip -d .claude/skills/Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Give the agent a concrete example of what a user would say, so it can write an accurate trigger description.
- Ask it to check that the description alone would tell a model when to use the skill.
- Ideally use it inside DeepTutor, since it references DeepTutor-specific tools (read_skill) and the Space → Skills UI.
