What it does

When you ask what happens if two or three bad things hit at once, this skill makes the agent work through a structured planning exercise. It assigns each variable a probability and timeline, maps how one problem (for example losing a big customer) triggers consequences in finance, hiring, engineering and other functions, and rates base, stress and severe cases. It ends with early warning signs and concrete hedging actions with owners and deadlines. The agent's output is planning text; the bundled Python script is an optional interactive builder.

Great for

  • Startup founders or executives preparing for compound risks like losing a key customer while a fundraise slips
  • Leadership teams running a pre-mortem or contingency planning session
  • Anyone who wants a structured what-if template rather than ad hoc brainstorming

Skip it if

  • Single-assumption sensitivity analysis, which the skill itself says is a different tool; a precise financial model needs real data and a finance specialist
  • Decisions that depend on real company numbers: the example figures (ARR, runway, costs) are illustrative, and the agent's probabilities are guesses unless you supply data
  • Legal, compliance or investment decisions taken on the output without professional review

Try asking

  • “What if we lose our top customer AND miss the Q3 fundraise?”
  • “What if 3 engineers quit AND we need to ship by Q3?”
  • “What if our market shrinks 30% AND a competitor raises $50M? Build a war room scenario with hedges.”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Scenario War RoomInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 3 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    scenario-war-room.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip scenario-war-room.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip scenario-war-room.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Give the agent your real numbers (ARR, runway in months, headcount, burn) so cascades are quantified rather than generic.
  • Limit each session to three variables, as the skill recommends, and treat the probabilities as hypotheses to challenge.
  • Review the script before running it if you want to use the interactive builder, and treat outputs as discussion material, not advice.
