What it does

When you say something like 'remember this', the agent writes a short note into the project's MEMORY.md file under your Claude config folder. The note is loaded at the start of later sessions in that project, so the agent doesn't repeat a mistake or forget a convention. It first checks for near-duplicate notes, and suggests moving strict rules into CLAUDE.md when appropriate.

Great for

  • Developers who keep re-explaining the same project quirk, build command, or gotcha to their agent
  • Teams who want hard-won debugging lessons kept for future sessions in one repository

Skip it if

  • Storing secrets: the skill itself says never to save credentials, tokens or keys, and a plain-text memory file is not a safe vault
  • Temporary or one-off context, which is better kept in the conversation itself (the skill's own guidance)

Try asking

  • “/si:remember "This project's CI requires Node 20 LTS, v22 breaks the build"”
  • “/si:remember "Use pnpm test:e2e for end-to-end tests"”
  • “/si:remember "We chose Drizzle over Prisma for type-safe SQL"”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Remember Knowledge ExplicitlyInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    remember.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip remember.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip remember.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Write one-line entries that include the concrete command or value, not just the concept
  • If you find yourself saving the same fact twice, promote it to CLAUDE.md with /si:promote
