What it does

Once installed, the agent helps you choose a pricing model (seat-based subscription, usage-based, value-based, freemium or hybrid), analyses willingness-to-pay survey data using the Van Westendorp Price Sensitivity Meter, and drafts three-tier packaging with checks for common mistakes. It gives a model and a price range with trade-offs rather than a single final price; a person still makes the final decision.

Great for

  • Commercial or product marketing leads designing a new SaaS, API or AI product's pricing
  • Teams revisiting pricing after 18+ months of sales data and considering a model change
  • Founders preparing a pricing proposal for a board or executive team with structured reasoning

Skip it if

  • Approving individual customer discounts, since the skill covers pricing strategy, not per-deal decisions (that is a separate deal-desk function)
  • Small surveys: the skill itself says Van Westendorp results below 30 respondents are unreliable and should be treated as directional only
  • Brand positioning or company-wide revenue strategy, which the skill explicitly excludes

Try asking

  • “Help me choose between seat-based and usage-based pricing for our new API product.”
  • “Here is our survey of 120 respondents with too-cheap, bargain, expensive and too-expensive answers; what price range is acceptable?”
  • “Design Good/Better/Best tiers for our SaaS features and flag any anti-patterns like a feature-dump top tier.”

Get better results

  • Fill in assets/pricing_brief_template.md first so the model picker has real customer context to score.
  • Use at least 100 survey respondents where possible; treat anything under 30 as a rough signal only.
  • Test the recommended price range in market rather than anchoring on a single intersection point.
