What it does
When installed, the agent acts as an architecture reviewer rather than a coder. It splits a codebase into feature groups, draws a Mermaid flowchart for each feature with file and line references, and looks for the same concern implemented in several places, such as parallel queues or duplicated storage code. It then proposes one simpler unified design and writes copy-paste prompts for a separate planning command, /make-plan. It is explicitly told not to write implementation code itself.
Great for
- Engineers preparing a large refactor who want an evidence-based map of duplicated logic first
- Teams inheriting an unfamiliar codebase and needing a feature-level overview with cited locations
- Tech leads auditing architecture before splitting work into planned tasks
Skip it if
- Small projects or single-file changes, where the multi-phase subagent process is overkill
- Anyone expecting it to make the code changes itself; it only produces diagrams, reports and prompts (it reason the skill stops before implementation)
- Codebases where the agent cannot read the source, since the skill depends on grep and file-level evidence and warns that diagrams drawn from memory are invalid
Try asking
- “Find the ideal path for unifying the duplicated capture paths in this repository”
- “Audit the architecture of this codebase before we start a refactor”
- “Map the features in this repo and flag duplicated storage or migration code”

Add it to your agent
Claude Code (all projects)
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip pathfinder.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)
mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip pathfinder.zip -d .claude/skills/Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Review and approve the feature boundaries in 00-features.md before letting the agent fan out, since the skill itself says bad boundaries waste the whole run
- Check that the cited file:line references in the duplication report actually exist before acting on the proposal
- Run the generated /make-plan prompts one system at a time rather than all at once
