What it does

This skill walks an agent through installing claude-mem, a memory tool, on Grok Bot. Once installed, a background worker watches conversation transcripts for each Grok Bot agent, summarises them, and injects a live index of past memories into the agent's memory folder so it can recall earlier work. By default the summaries are produced through a CMEM Pro hosted inference endpoint using an API key obtained during installer sign-in; an optional mode uses the local Grok login instead, and a remote mode points at cmem.ai.

Great for

  • Developers who run Grok Bot agents and want them to remember past sessions across tasks
  • Teams who already have a cmem.ai / CMEM Pro account and want the default setup
  • Users who do not use Cursor and need claude-mem configured for Grok Bot specifically

Skip it if

  • Users who do not want conversation content sent to a third-party inference service, since the default path sends transcripts to cmem.ai (the file does not detail retention or data handling)
  • Anyone looking for a simple one-click app: the setup runs npx commands, starts a local background server and writes files into agent folders
  • Environments where Grok Bot lacks the hooks this relies on: the file states Grok Bot has no session-start, file-read or tool-use hooks, so behaviour is limited to transcript watching and MCP calls

Try asking

  • “Install claude-mem on Grok Bot with the default CMEM Pro observer”
  • “Set up claude-mem on Grok Bot using my local Grok login instead of CMEM Pro”
  • “Connect my Grok Bot agents to a remote claude-mem server at cmem.ai”
  • “Turn off the live memory index injection for my Grok Bot agents”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the Apache-2.0 licence and an attribution note.

    install.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip install.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip install.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Use the default CMEM Pro path unless you specifically need the local host-login observer, which the file says is opt-in only
  • Review what the installer writes to agent folders and set CLAUDE_MEM_GROK_BOT_INJECT_ENABLED=false if you do not want live memory injected into agent files
  • Check the worker health and port (default 37700 + uid%100) after install to confirm it is running locally on 127.0.0.1
