What it does
This skill lets an AI agent running in Hermes read and write work items in Paperclip, a task-management system for AI agents. Once installed, when a request needs new or updated Paperclip work, the agent can create tasks, add comments, change task status, or list tasks already assigned to it, using a helper script. Access is limited by a special restricted API key so the agent can only touch tasks inside an approved parent task or project.
Great for
- Teams already using Paperclip that want Hermes agents to file follow-up tasks automatically
- Operators who want agents to post durable progress comments on approved work
- Developers setting up a tightly scoped bridge between Hermes and Paperclip
Skip it if
- People without a Paperclip account or self-hosted Paperclip instance, since the skill has no use without it
- Internet-facing Hermes runtimes using a normal (broad) agent API key, which the skill itself warns against because it grants company-wide access
- Situations needing Paperclip to wake Hermes, which is a separate adapter (hermes_local or hermes_gateway) not covered here
Try asking
- “Create a child task under our approved checkout-fix parent task to investigate failing requests”
- “Show me what Paperclip tasks are currently assigned to you”
- “Add a comment to PAP-123 saying the failing request path has been found”
- “Mark PAP-123 as in_review with a note that it is ready for review”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Create the bridge key with a parentIssueId or projectId so Hermes can only act inside an approved boundary, and store credentials in Hermes env/profile secrets rather than prompts.
- Never use a full agent API key in an internet-facing Hermes runtime; use only a task_bridge scoped key.
- Use list-assigned before creating work to avoid duplicates, and prefer --body-file or stdin for multiline text.
