What it does

When you ask the agent to check a pull request (GitHub), merge request (GitLab), or Perforce changelist, it reads the review comments, status checks, and description, then lists what still needs attention and helps address it. It waits for running CI checks to finish and includes a gate that requires a fresh automated Greptile review on the latest commit before treating the change as ready. It works through the command-line tools gh, glab, git, or p4 that you have installed and logged into.

Great for

  • Developers preparing a pull request for review or merge who want a checklist of remaining issues
  • Teams using Greptile automated review who want to confirm reviews apply to the latest commit
  • Engineers working across GitHub, GitLab, or Perforce who want one consistent check

Skip it if

  • Someone without git and the relevant CLI (gh, glab, or p4) installed and authenticated, since the skill cannot run without them
  • Use on repositories you do not control, because it runs shell commands and sends requests to the code host using your credentials

Try asking

  • “Check PR 412 for review comments and failing checks”
  • “Check my current branch's merge request and tell me what's blocking it”
  • “Prepare my pending Perforce changelist for submission and list open review comments”
  • “Look at the PR for this branch and fix any issues the reviewers raised”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Check PR StatusInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 3 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    check-pr.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip check-pr.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip check-pr.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Give the PR or MR number explicitly to avoid the agent guessing from the current branch
  • Review the commands the agent runs before it posts comments or pushes changes, since the skill can make changes to your branch
  • If your GitLab host name does not contain 'gitlab', pass the override option so the correct CLI is used
