What it does

This skill teaches the agent the methodology of options trading analysis: how to describe single-leg and multi-leg option strategies (spreads, straddles, butterflies, condors, calendars, ratio spreads, covered calls and collars), how to compute Black-Scholes prices and Greeks, and how to read profit and loss curves. When installed, the agent can explain what a strategy earns or loses at different prices and expiry dates. It also points to a companion options_payoff tool for calculations, which it passes signed legs, entry price and expiry days to. The skill is explicitly limited to research and backtesting and tells the agent not to give live trading instructions.

Great for

  • Finance students learning how option strategies and Greeks behave
  • Quant developers building or checking options P&L analysis in the Vibe-Trading framework
  • Analysts who want a structured explanation of a multi-leg options position before studying it further

Skip it if

  • Giving real-time buy or sell advice on live markets, since the skill forbids live trading instructions and the outputs are model estimates (Black-Scholes assumes constant volatility and European exercise, which real markets violate)
  • Users who need guaranteed-accurate pricing without checking inputs, because results depend on the premiums, volatility and dividend assumptions supplied

Try asking

  • “Explain the max profit, max loss and breakeven of an iron condor with strikes 90/95/105/110”
  • “Show how a bull call spread's payoff changes if implied volatility rises from 20% to 30%”
  • “Walk me through how Theta decay affects a calendar spread over the next 30 days”
  • “Compare a long straddle and a long strangle on the same stock and explain the cost difference”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    options-payoff.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip options-payoff.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip options-payoff.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Give exact legs with signed quantities (positive for long, negative for short), entry spot price, and days to expiry so the calculation is unambiguous
  • Supply actual per-share premiums, multiplier and commission when you want realistic P&L rather than theoretical curves
  • Treat outputs as research estimates and verify against a live pricing source before relying on them
